In a rather confusing set of announcements via multiple websites, Versailles -Philharmonic Quintet- has announced that they will be stopping activity by the end of 2012. The announcement cites lack of a "clear direction heading into the future" as the primary reason for the decision. In further news, they announce that they will release a farewell album on September 26 and conduct a Japan tour soon after. They will officially stop activity as Versailles on December 20 with a concert at NHK Hall in Tokyo.
The Versailles PQ USA Street Team also reports having confirmation from band management that this is not a disbandment.

Note from AinVK Editor: The Versailles OHP announcement also states that the band wishes to "pursue
[their] artistic and personal goals outside of the current framework."
We interpret this to mean that the band plans to re-think and
re-organize the kind and/or style of music they want to perform, and
they will resume activity together in some form once they have a game
plan. We advise taking a "wait and see" approach to this announcement.
